Cheap Grace HeaderYou know you are preaching/sharing the Good News of the Gospel correctly if you, from time to time, get the charge of teaching ‘cheap Grace’. It may be put other ways too. Maybe someone would say ‘well let’s make sure it’s balanced’ or ‘yes but…’ Don’t let this get you down. Even more importantly, don’t make Grace more expensive. If Grace were to cost us anything, we couldn’t afford it!

Grace is a one way gift, from God to us. Think of all the stories in the Bible where Grace was free and in abundance. Think of the Israelites and how many times they turned their back on God, yet God still loved them and showered his love on them in all different kinds of ways. Think of the lepers who came to Jesus asking to be cleansed from their disease. Jesus healed all of them but only one came back and said thank you. He didn’t take the healing back from the others who didn’t return to thank Him. Think of the story of the Master who hired workers. They agreed on a wage to work the whole day. Then the Master went out a couple of times during the day and hired more help. Even on the final hour of work, he hired more workers. At the end of the day when it was time to settle the wages, the master paid them all the same amount! All of these stories show us the important fact that Grace doesn’t depend on us!

I would dare say there is no such thing as greasy Grace either. God can dish it out however he pleases and he loves to give it in abundance to those who don’t deserve it! And guess what, we don’t deserve it! How sweet it is!!!
